Ever since Lucia lost everything, she spent most of her time wandering, trying to find somewhere that she could call home. But she always found herself back at Mystic Falls, since that was her true home. No matter how many awful and terrible memories she had there, it would never change the fact that it was where she belonged. Nostalgia had a habit of taking over when she went there though, and visits to the cemetery weren't uncommon.

Though today, Lucia found that she wasn't alone. There was another women there. One she recognized. Jennifer. Lucia had met her before, though they weren't close. "You know, I've always thought that staring at slabs of cement with names carved into them and imagining people's bodies rotting under us was always a rather gross way of honoring the dead," she said, approaching her. "Then again, it beats cremation, I suppose."

Lucia shrugged. "My whole family is here," she said. "Well, except my sister, but that's another story." Lucia had a complicated relationship with her sister, but her death almost made her lose it. She was lucky to have found someone willing to pull her back together. Now she would have days where she did nothing but miss her and other days where she despised her. But she had every right to do so.

Lucia nodded. "And then there's us," she said. "The people cursed to watch their families age and die around us while we know that there is absolutely nothing that we can really do about it." Lucia's sister hadn't been able to deal with that fact. Her biggest fear was of being alone in the world, so she turned her little sister, not realizing that it would make her despise her for the next few decades.

Lucia nodded. "My family's been gone for a long time too," she said. "But when your family is the reason you're in this mess to begin with, you think about it a lot more often." Lucia wasn't young compared to Jen, though people tended to get confused due to the fact that Lucia had been turned when she was barely even a teenager. It was one of the reason Lucia hated being a vampire, but that list was longer than most.

Lucia sighed a little. "My sister," she said. "She was turned by her boyfriend after she swore that she was in love with him, but then he left her for someone else. I was only three at the time. But my sister never had anyone to teach her about this lifestyle. She had to sort it out herself. But then, when I was fourteen, she realized that eventually all of us were going to grow old and die, and she was terrified of being alone. She spent a couple months finding out exactly how she was supposed to turn someone, and then she did it to me." Lucia always hated that story, but she figured that she might as well enlighten Jen's curiosity.

Lucia shook her head. "No, just me," she said. "In fact, until the day she turned me, I believed her to be dead. She ran away a year after she was turned, and my parents told me that she had died. After she turned me, she made me swear to never tell my parents and run away with her. Looking back on it, I wish I hadn't gone. But I've learned to stop regretting things at this age. It's kind of pointless."

Lucia shook her head. "I just remember coming back here one day to find their headstones," she said. "I'm guessing old age, judging by the dates. Other than that, I have no idea." Lucia was leaving out the part where her sister had died too, but that wasn't intentional. She just liked to block it out of her mind most of the time.
